Marketing and Advertising, What are Differences?

I hope you find something that you wanted to know about marketing and advertising in the following discussion.

Now we are talking about the differences between marketing and advertising.

Although marketing and advertising sound similar but the true is they are not. Advertising is only one part of the whole marketing process. Marketing covers complete conceptualization of a brand right from research to designing to advertising to sale. Advertising, on another point of view is an element of the marketing process which is nothing but carrying the communication through variety of mediums in order that promote the product or service.

Even if you are a stranger in the word of marketing and advertising, once you are through with this discussion, you will no longer have to consider yourself to be a stranger in it!

Advertising is one of the most important part of a marketing scheme and also the most expensive cost. Advertising composes sending the information throughout the public promotes about your company, product or services. It also forms behind the scenes work like the procedure involving formation of several techniques and coming up with a right one to target the viewers. The technique consists of planning tasks like placing ads, choosing media, deciding what time, how often etc. The advertisements are normally placed via mediums like television, snail mail, newspapers, internet, emails, ezines, radio, magazines, mobile messaging, flyers, billboards etc. The most popular one is naturally television although online advertising is becoming increasingly popular too.

The other components of marketing process are market research of the product, product designing, media planning, PR, product pricing, customer satisfaction, customer support, sales and many more. All these components or parts of marketing process should work apart from others but combined in achieving the more prominent goal i.e. sell product or service and build company’s reputation in the marketplace. Marketing is a long and arduous undertaking process regarding many tasks that take hours sometimes days of research. The research part of marketing takes the longest period of time as it involves thoroughly understanding the behavior of people towards a product. Designing the product and developing advertising scheme is also a time consuming process. Only tasks that take less time are running advertisements and sales. Marketing can also be perceived as a medium between consumers and the provider company.

However, their are many companies alway hold misunderstanding of confusing advertising with marketing. They try to running advertisements as big famous companies for example coke and pepsi but they simply refuse to acknowledge the work that goes behind that. For instance, take the case of logo. Many business owners are so excessive mark about the logo of their company in their advertisements as they think that it will simply bring in the sales. But what makes a logo works is only the reputation of the company and the logo must have a feeling to it and should actually reflect company’s values. These companies lose fortunes on advertising which a new start up business can’t.

You should only invest money and time in transmission information to the consumers that they can address their expectations, rather than spending unnecessary money on branding your product or company. After building reputation and growing to a big size company one can think of these overgenerous ideas. Give an education to the consumers also helps as it will give them an understanding that you know what you do and are best at doing that.

Marketing Management (12th Edition) (Marketing Management)Smart marketers are aggressive in approach rather than passive. They encourage reader’s minds by motivating them to do something rather than just making them knowledgeable of the product. Smart marketers also bring home the names, addresses and contact numbers of people who are really interested in hiring your company by employing aggressive marketing. Thus having a good marketing campaign speaks a lot about the company and their products and advertising gives that finishing touch to the hard work done by the marketing people in selling a product.

This is my humble discussion on marketing and advertising. Your reading it will add the necessary weightage to my presentation.

Thanks a lot.
